NYSEG to install new transmission line through several towns

Also upgrade Klinkill substation and build new substation

CHATHAM — Dennis Bender, project manager for New York State Electric and Gas, and two representatives from Burns & McDonnell Transmission and Distribution Engineering appeared before the town of Chatham Zoning Board of Appeals March 24 to present a plan to connect the existing NYSEG Klinekill substation and National Grid’s 115,000-volt transmission line to a new NYSEG substation in the town of Ghent. The project will enhance NYSEG’s reliability and provide its 9,990 customers with better service.

The plan contains an upgrade for the existing Klinekill substation, located on Route 203 near the Hudson River Tractor Company. A new 115-kV terminal will be built and installed at both ends of the line. The new substation would include a site access road, a one-acre gravel pad, a 30-by-50-foot control house and storm water management facilities….read more
