GHENT — While the Ghent Town Board on June 21 announced its plans to file as a party in the Article VII proceedings initiated by New York State Energy and Gas for its proposed power line, which would wind its way through Ghent and surrounding towns, the Public Service Commission found the filing riddled with errors. Public discussion later in the meeting turned to a proposal to extend the Harlem Valley Rail Trail in Ghent.
NYSEG filed an Article VII with the commission on May 25 seeking approval for its plan to build an 11.2-mile, 115-kilovolt power line through the towns of Ghent, Chatham and Stockport. However, the commission sent NYSEG a letter, dated June 22, saying that the initial filing contained various errors.
